Administration of the Sufficiency Villages: Problems and Discontinuity

Abstract

This research focused on factors affecting the application of theSufficiency Economy in the administration of the community by collecting datafrom 8 villages in 4 provinces in Northern Region Thailand. From the analysis, it wasfound that there were five items that were barriers in the administration of thecommunity. It made the discontinuity in doing the developmental activitiesconsisting of, 1) a lack of the communication to make understanding and thepromotion of the participation of the people, 2) a lack of the analysis of the way oflife and the context of the community to design the developmental activitiessuitable to the way of life, 3) changing the policy and the way for the developmentdiscontinuous and inconsistent to the context and the way of life of thcommunity, 4)duties of the government organization did not cover the knowledge,following and evaluation the developmental activities clearly, and 5) the way of lifeof the community changed because of adopting the culture of the urban area.
