Curriculum Development on Tracking the Lava, Studying Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park, Buriram Province for Matthayomsuksa 2 Students in the Substance Science Learning Group at the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 32
Abstract
The purposes of this research were to develop the local curriculum on tracking the Lava, studying the Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park, Buriram Province For Matthayomsuksa 2 Students in the Substance Science Learning Group at the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 32, The samples were 43 Matthayomsuksa 2 students at Phattharabophit School in Buriram Province for Second Semester Academic Year 2011 derived by simple random sampling. The research instruments used in this study were 1) a interview form for basic information, 2) a questionnaire 3) Local Curriculum on tracking the Lava, studying the Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park, Buriram Province, 4) the achievement test with a reliability of 0.772, and 5) the attitude questionnaire towards learning in the curriculumn with a reliability of 0.797. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean standard deviation, content analysis, and t-test.
The results were as follows:
1. A study of basic information from studying documents, and requirement to develop curriculum of students and the related person was summarized that the curriculum on tracking the Lava, studying the Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park, Buriram Province. They must study about the local environment, the relationships between the environment and living organisms, the relationships between organisms in the ecosystems, and having inquiry process and scientific mind, communicate what they have learned and apply their knowledge to use. In addition, they must learn to understand the importance of natural resources, the use of natural resources at the local, national and global levels, bring the knowledge to use in sustainable management of natural resources and the local environment. Moreover, the educational managemnent can solve the problem directly with problems, and requirements of the community affecting having desirable characteristics of students according to the requirements.
2. The results of curriculum development were found that there were principles, purposes, structure, scope, and school hours included, approach to manage learning activities, instructional media, measurement and evaluation, and 4 lesson plans in the draft curriculum. It was found that the draft curriculum was consistent and appropriate.
3. The results of curiculum trial were found that the curriculum is being trial out with Matthayomsuksa 2 students found that the students have participated in learning, eager to learn, and they found the pleasure in learning.
4. The results of curriculum evaluation and improvement were found that the academic achievement of students in the curriculum on tracking the Lava, studying the Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park was higher than pre trial curriculum with the .05 level of statistical significance. The attitude evaluation towards learning in the curiculum was found that students' attitude towards learning in the curriculum on tracking the Lava, studying the Dipterocarp Forest at Khao Kradong National Park was overall at the high level. The curriculum was improved by increasing the study hours in learning for students to have appropriate time for specified learning activities by increasing the time from 12 hours to 14 hours.
