The Roles Phathepruttannakrawe, Mahathat Temple, Phetchaboon Province in Social Development

Abstract

This article is a part of the research on a Buddhist Monk in Social Development : A Case Study of Phra Thepruttanakrawee, Mahathat Temple, Phetchabun Province is a qualitative research. The research objectives are (1) to
study the role and concept on a Social Development of Phra Thepruttanakrawee. (2) to study the theoretical application of Pha Thepruttanakrawee’s concept of Social Development.

The results of the research are as follow:

1. Phra Thepruttanakrawee has many roles in the Social Development in many ways. As for the close relationship between the monks and community, he has many crucial roles in government, education, social welfare, public utility,
public welfare and disperse the truly a properly Buddhism principles.

2. Phra Thepruttanakrawee apply the Dhamic principles -especially, the Buddhism disciplines- onto the Monk-Govern properly an regulately along to the
Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand. On the educational work, he laid the foundation the education support –secularly and religiously- in the sector of Dhammic-Pali, the sector of the general education, and the sector of higher
education by founding the Paliyattidhamma, the Buddhist sermon school. On the Dhamic dispersion, he disperse the Dhamma using a preachment on the holy-day, Moreover, he establish the unit and personnel of dispersion such as the Dhamma Thooth, the unit of preachment, on any opportunity. On the public utility, he support constructing the permanent structure and repairing the Senasana, the monks’ resident. On the public welfare, he support to construct the properly public
facility such as public school, public sanatorium, and people-cooperation organization.
