Mahacediswedagon whether gold was brought from Sri Ayutthaya city to build or not : An Analytical Study
Keywords:
Mahacediswedagon, Sri Ayutthaya, Suwannabhumi.Abstract
Buddhism comes from champutipa to the land of Suwannabhumi on the obvious evidence about 235 B.E., i.e. after the third revision has been made under patronage of the great Asoka, He and Phramokkulliputtissathera have made a consultation to each other about sending dhamma-missionary for spreading Buddhism to different land both in and out of champutipa by dividing dhammamissionary into nine routes. The eight routes is Suwannabhumi which is one of nine has been made an assignment to Phrasonathera and Phrauttarathera with their groups responding to establish Buddhism in this Suwannabhumi. The word “Suwannabhumi” comes from two words, Suwanna is translated “Gold” and “Bhumi” is translated “Land” or “Places”. When two words are combined together translating “Golden Land”, by Geographical mean to country or the fertile land with natural resources including soil and climate which is plant able of good rice, Nowadays, It is an arguing point of Religionists where the location or center of Suwannabhumi is, but here the mentioned question won’t be analyzed. To build the hair pagoda that two cousins of Okkalajanapada, Tapussa and Bhallika, went to India for trading on the Buddha’s time which He has just made enlightenment and a happy liberal time in the seventh week under rajayatana tree (Keta) offered Him with a loft of Sattu and a powder of Sattu, then two of them
shown themselves as a davevacika-upasaka. The Buddha gave them the eight hairs to them. Two traders have venerably received them and brought them back to Okkalajanapada, started to build a nine meter height of pagoda covered them. At the present, the hair pagoda has 122 meter of height, surrounded by gold at a weight of 1100 kilograms by taking 8688 sheets of setting in line up from the body of pagoda up to the top umbrella of it.
The question is that a tremendous amount of gold surrounded hair pagoda, Burma which nowadays is a developing country with no more income or GDP of the country, where does it bring the gold? Or Burma in time of ruling by king system overcomes different countries in South East Asia, Especially for Siam, then bring gold from Siam to add in hair pagoda?.
The first briefly answer is that the gold is truly brought from Siam to add the hair pagoda, but it is a litter bit of it, if it is compared to amount of gold that take from Sri Ayutthaya city at the second breaking.
