THE STUDY OF POTENTIAL COMPETITIVENESS OF ENTREPRENEURS: CASE STUDY OF SILK INDUSTRY IN CHONNABOT DISTRICT KHON KAEN PROVINCE

The mixed methodology between quantitative and qualitative research entitled “The study of Potential Competitiveness of Entrepreneurs : Case study of Silk Industry in Chonnabot district, Khon kaen Province” which the research purposes were 1) to investigate the potential competiveness of silk industry entrepreneurs, 2) to determine the entrepreneur’s value chain activity performance, and 3) to plan and strategic formulation for the competitiveness and increased competitiveness for the silk industry entrepreneurs. The 56 research population consisted of a group of community enterprises and distributors. A questionnaire and in-depth interview were applied for data collection which earned data wereanalyzed by the computer program to obtain frequency, percentage, mean,standard deviation.
The research findings were showed as follows :
1. The potential competiveness of silk industry entrepreneurs in Chonnabot district, Khon kaen Province on the competitive condition in the business was clearly found in overall aspect at a high level. By aspect was found that the price bargaining with the sellers each time for product ordering was the highest mean and followed by the participation with either the small or large group for the product ordering whilst the support and encouragement from the government for business enhancement and new knowledge for sale operation was the lowest mean.
2. The primary activities of the entrepreneur’s value chain activity performance was obviously found in overall aspect at a high level. It was followed by the inbound logistics whist the lowest mean found was the outbound logistics.
3. The support activities of the entrepreneur’s value chain activity performance was found at a high level. By aspect was found that the procurement was the highest mean then the human resource management respectively whilst the technology development was clearly found at the lowest mean.
