Doctor of Law Program Requirements

Abstract

The research on the demand of the survey applicant to study in the Doctor of Laws program has the objectives to (1) To study the general background of study who are target group (2) To survey the demand of
studying the doctor of law program both in general background and comparative study (3) To survey the possible applicants of the doctor of law program including conditions and influential factors of the target group (4) To survey the long distance learning management system of the doctor of law program by comparing between the target group of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University and other universities (5) To survey and make recommendation received from the target group in order to develop the doctor of law program according to the desire of the target group and (6) To recommend the faculty of law and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University to open the doctor of law program which possess a high standard, quality and according to the desire of the target group This research is a survey research by applying both qualitative and quantitative methodologies received from various sources. The quantitative research apply the survey methodologies and the tool employed in this research are opened and closed ended questionnaires including analyse information from the questionnaires by using the statistics results This research found that most of the target groups 54.5% ; want to apply the doctor of law program while 31% of target groups tend to apply this program. Whether the target groups decide to apply this program or not depending significantly on tuition fee. The long distance learning facilitates the nature of doctor of law study because it depends upon the self-learning disciplines. According to this study, the result shows that English skill is crucial for studying this program; thus, it is necessary to pass the English standard qualification. With regard to program curriculum, the target group prefers limited amount of course works while conducting the dissertation at the same time However, the acceptance rate should be relevant to the capacity of the faculty of law, The tuition fee should be based on a lump sum payment. Moreover, the university should develop various facilities for example, academic database in order to support the doctor of law program effectively.
