ADMINISTRATION OF TECHNOLOGY FOR MEDITATION PROMOTION OF WAT PRATHAMAKAYA ACCORDING TO THE SUFFICIENCY ECONOMY PHILOSOPHY

Abstract

Objectives of this study were to explore (1) administrative problems of
technology for meditation promotion of Wat Prathamakaya according to the
Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, (2) development guidelines of technology for
meditation promotion of Wat Prathamakaya according to the Sufficiency Economy
Philosophy, and (3) administrative strategy of technology for meditation promotion
of Wat Prathamakaya according to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
Methodology of this research was constructed as mixed methods research
using quantitative research as principal means and supported by qualitative
research. The quantitative research was survey research collecting large amount of
field data with questionnaires. The questionnaires passed try out of validity check
at level of 0.94 and reliability check at level of 0.96. Population was all 62,237
people going to mediation retreat at Wat Prathamakaya. Total samples of 1,111
members were drawn by Taro Yamane's Sampling Size Formula. Field data
collection was operated during October 1-30, 2016 and total 1,027 completed sets
of questionnaire which equaled with 82.16 % of the 1,250 total samples were
returned. Field data collection was colleted during April 1-30, 2016 and total 1,005
completed sets of questionnaire which equaled with 90.46 % of the 1,111 total
samples were returned. Data analysis was presented in contingency table with
analytical descriptive approach. Descriptive statistics exercised were mean, standard

deviation, multiple regression, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. For qualitative
research, in-depth interview of 9 experts or key informants with face to face
interview together with structured in-depth interview form was also applied. After
that the interviewed data was interpreted, analyzed, and presented in table with
description.
Research results were (1) the significant problem of administration was
Wat Prathamakaya' s inappropriate spending, such as too little, on knowledge and
understanding provision of modern technology supporting the mediation to people,
(2) the significant development guidelines of administration were Wat Prathamakaya
should provide knowledge and understanding of modern technology supporting the
mediation to people by spending appropriately or economically, including should
utilize the variety of modern networks, for instance, Facebook and Line, and (3) Wat
Prathamakaya should establish administrative strategy, particularly strategy
planning, of technology for meditation promotion according to the Sufficiency
Economy Philosophy and should apply in planning, performance process setting, or
key performance indicators forming. The administrative strategy particularly the
strategy planning should respectively consist of 5 aspect as follows: indicator,
operational strategy, mission, goal, and vision.
