PREVENTING AND SOLVING PROBLEMS FROM FIREWATER-DRINKING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BUDDHIST ECONOMICS

Abstract

The research consisted of three main objectives, namely: 1. to investigate
concept of people’s alcoholic beverage drinking prevention; 2. to explore problems
and effects of alcohol consumption on people's economy; and 3. to suggest
solution and prevention of alcoholic beverages in accordance with the Buddhist
economics. It was a quantitative research conducted by questionnaires with
sampling groups in two communities: Moo 1 and 2 of Ban Khaen Yai, Khaen Sub-
District, Sanom District, Surin Province for data collection and analyzing as
descriptive summary. The findings revealed as follows: as for the prevention and
problem solving of alcoholic beverages in accordance with the Buddhist economics,
it was found that overall attitudes towards alcoholic beverages in two communities
was at the high level (4.09). Meanwhile, as for alcohol problems and effects on
economy, it was at the high level (4.22). Having considered each aspect, it was also
at the high level, too. At the same time, solutions and prevention of alcoholic
beverages in accordance with the Buddhist economics in two communities in Moo
1 and 2 apply the principle of true value and tolerance as a guideline for
prevention of drinking alcohol.
