STRATEGIES FOR COMMUNITY AND POLICE COOPERATION ON CRIME PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION IN THE NORTHEASTERN OF THAILAND
Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study cooperation conditions and problems concerning with the community and police on crime prevention and suppression in the Northeastern region, 2) to analyze Buddhism and management
principles which are related factors of community and police cooperation on crime prevention and suppression in the Northeastern region and 3) to identify strategies of community and police cooperation on crime prevention and suppression in the Northeastern region. The methodology of this research was the mixed methods Research, the qualitative research and quantitative researches. The qualitative research included the in-depth interviewing of 30 key informants in the Northeastern region interview and focus group discussion of 10 experts. The research findings were summarized as follows:
Firstly, the conditions and problems of the community and police cooperation on crime prevention and suppression in the Northeastern region in the present were at the moderate level. The people had unconfident to the police
activities and distrusted the police, lack of sincerity in fix the problem and didn’t believe that the police could protect the people who contribute the drug clue in areas. Secondly, the Buddhism and management principles which were relatedfactors of community and police cooperation on crime prevention and suppression in the Northeastern region, required (1) operation restructuring in order to take the contribute, convenience, advise, truly and thoroughly benefit to the community, (2) strategies adjust in order to take the trust of the community, the concise measures, the good apparent communications and the risk and dangerous area information’s to set up the action plan under controlling of the commander, (3) operation systems and the properly measures for crime prevention together with the community, (4) staff personality in order to sacrifice in operates for the community, friendly, doesn’t
