The Role of Buddhism on the National Development: Puey Ungphakorn's viewpoint

The venerable person in economics, who is beloved, respected, praised has been accepted in terms of virtue, integrity, faith in democracy, the dedication for the society and the nation. People, especially economists must think of Professor Dr. Puey Ungpakorn at first. He held the position of the Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University. In addition, he held for many important national positions such as Governor of the Bank of Thailand. In the international, on 18 November, 2015 Professor Dr. Puey Ungpakorn has been named by The United Nations Educational, scientific and cultural organization of the United Nations Organization or UNESCO as one of the world's most important people.
Puey Ungphakorn has mentioned that Buddhism has played an important role on the national development. For example, it helps people to have freedom and independence, and also makes the society to be efficient. More importantly, the society needs the righteousness which based on the kindness of the people. In conclusion, the national development needs both secular and religious matters to develop the country for being a sustainable society.
