BUDDHIST INTEGRATION OF CARING FOR CHRONIC DISEASES IN THAI SOCIETY

บทคัดย่อ

    This research study aims to propose a model of caring for chronic diseases patients by Buddhism integrated that affects the quality of life and depression of the patient. This research applied the mixed methods approach by quantitative research methods to expand the results of qualitative research methods. A sample selected from the properties is that there are no restrictions on communication, participation and voluntary instruments that are used in the research is composed of 1) a model of caring for chronic diseases patients by Buddhist integration “CMDEEED”, 2) The World Health Organization Quality of Life in Thai version (WHOQOL-BREF–THAI) and 3) Thai depression inventory. The statistics are used to analysis the data, including the percent average, standard deviation, and t test.
     The results showed that :- 1) Chronic diseases was the disease that has long term effect and increase level of effect because it was the defectiveness or had permanent changing to the patient’s body. The pathology occurs cannot return to normal. 2) For the concept and Buddhist method of caring chronic diseases patients, many different methods were used and focus on making their body balance by using medical treatment, Dhamma treatment, meditation treatment etc. 3) A model of caring for chronic diseases patients by Buddhist integration “CMDEEED” is a pattern that developed from the integration between Buddhism, together with medical care plan and from the evaluation found that the quality of life and depression of patients with chronic diseases of the experimental group.
