This research, titled “The Model of Mindfulness Practices on Well-Being of Students in International Buddhist Studies College, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University”, had three main objectives: 1) To study the concepts and theories of well-being, as well as the context, problems, and needs regarding the well-being of students at the International Buddhist Studies College, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. 2) To analyze the mindfulness practices for promoting well-being in Buddhism. 3) To develop and present a model of mindfulness practices on student well-being at the International Buddhist Studies College. This study employed a qualitative research approach, incorporating in-depth interviews and thematic analysis to explore the effects of mindfulness on students’ psychological, academic, social, and spiritual well-being.


The findings of this research are presented in alignment with the three research objectives. First, the study found that students’ well-being at the International Buddhist Studies College is influenced by psychological, emotional, social, and academic factors. Students face challenges such as academic pressure, cross-cultural adjustment, language barriers, and the demands of monastic and academic life, highlighting the need for systematic approaches to support holistic well-being.        Second, the analysis of Buddhist mindfulness practices revealed that structured activities—particularly the annual 15-day intensive meditation retreat and weekly Sunday meditation sessions—significantly enhance students’ well-being. These practices contribute to reduced stress and anxiety, improved emotional regulation, increased mental clarity, enhanced concentration and memory, and strengthened interpersonal relationships. However, challenges such as initial resistance to meditation, language difficulties, and time constraints were also identified. Third, based on these findings, a structured model of mindfulness practices was developed to promote student well-being. The model comprises four components: daily mindfulness routines, weekly group meditation sessions, annual intensive meditation retreats, and the integration of mindfulness techniques into academic activities. This model provides a holistic and practical framework for enhancing student well-being and supports the integration of mindfulness practices into higher education contexts, particularly within Buddhist studies institutions.
