This research has three objectives: 1) to study challenges faced by working professionals and their specific well-being needs within the workplace environment, 2) to develop a structured program of meditation with Dhamma music tailored to those needs, and 3) to evaluate the outcomes and effects of meditation practice with Dhamma music on mental well-being. A mixed-method approach was employed across three phases: qualitative research through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions for model validation, and an intervention study utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods involving 30 working professionals over four weeks.
The research results were found that: 1) In-depth interviews revealed three core workplace challenges: structural/physical limitations, organizational issues, and psychological impacts such as stress and exhaustion. These challenges were consistent across different sectors, pointing to a universal need for improved infrastructure, supportive organizational culture, and accessible mental health tools. 2) A structured meditation program with Dhamma music was developed, emphasizing flexibility and personalization. Insights from interviews guided the design, while a focus group of nine experts validated the model and suggested refinements, including clearer practice instructions and broader assessment criteria and 3) The four-week intervention showed improvements in Positive Emotion & Thinking, Relationships, and Functioning, measured through the Thai Mental Well-being Scale. Assessments over five time points indicated gradual emotional uplift, improved interpersonal dynamics, and early gains in workplace performance.
In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Dhamma music meditation can effectively enhance mental well-being among working professionals. It offers a culturally rooted yet adaptable framework that integrates traditional Buddhist practices with contemporary workplace wellness needs.
