Identity of Malayu Muslim in Urban Yala

This article aimed to study the identity of Malayu Muslim in Yala Municipality. Talad Kao community and Sai Klang downtown selected as study area using a participative observation and direct interaction with Key informants through non structure interview. The data were then compiled and analyzed, and finally a report was undertaken on the findings in the form of analytical descriptive.
The study found that in term of their identity of Malayu Muslim in Urban Yala has variety of ways to form their identity under urban environmental context and ethnic diversity. Their identity is presented in the group identity elimination, identity adjustment and identity with other different group.
In term of social space formation of Malayu Muslim in Urban Yala the study found that Malayu Muslim both decided to face and avoid the social interaction. Their identity expression aims to create definition and to be recognized by the others as well as the coding of what had been experienced. The Malayu Muslim defines from memorial space, self-placing in the urban and leading life in the unrest area. Their identity might be static and dynamic depending on the relationship with different group and social context.
