Abstract

This article was written to conceptually analyze morality quotient. Buddhism primarily focuses on the development of mind. People with good mind behave ethically and Buddhism is concerned with the human development process by principles of morality, concentration and wisdom. The analysis drew on the concept of morality cultivation in family institutions, academic institutions and religious institutions, integrating the study of Kohl, which distinguishes morality from emotional quotient. According to Kohl, emotional quotient should be cultivated in the !rst three years of life. Three factors involved are 1) teaching morality to children 2) adults imparting virtue to children 3) giving love and fostering children"s discipline. Kohlberg"s theory of three levels and six steps was used in the analysis of human morality development. Therefore, the human morality development in three principle social institutions has an important role in the morality cultivation of members in the society.
