Current Situations, Desirable Situations and Guidelines for Developing Desirable Characteristics of Students Based on Basic Education Standards of Secondary Schools under the Nakhon Phanom Secondary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract

         The purposes of this research were (1) to study the current situations and desirable situations, (2) to study the need assessment, and (3) to develop the guidelines of desirable characteristics of students based on basic education standards of secondary schools under the Nakhon Phanom Secondary Educational Service Area Office 22. The sample group was 368 school administrators and teachers followed Krejcie & Morgan’s table in the sample size specification, and they were selected by Stratified Random Sampling. Key Informant number 3. Expert assess suitability and Possibility number 5. There were 4 instruments used in this research: (1) a questionnaire about the current situations of desirable characteristics of students with the index of item congruence (IC) between .60-1.00, the discrimination between . 23 – 0.87, and the reliability of .98; (2) a questionnaire about desirable situations of desirable characteristics for students with the index of item congruence (IC) between .60-1.00, the discrimination between .72 – 0.96, and the reliability of .98; (3) a structured-interview form with the index of item congruence (IC) between .1.00; and (4) a suitability and possibility assessment form of desirable characteristics of development guidelines with the index of item congruence (IC) between 1.00. The statistics employed were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the index modified priority needs index (PNImodified).

         The results were found that (1) the current situations and desirable situations of desirable characteristics of students based on basic education standards of secondary were overall at the high level and at the highest level respectively; (2) the need assessment of desirable characteristics of students revealed the highest average top-three priority in the aspects of (1) Thai and local pride, (2) having good qualities and values as specified by the schools, (3) acceptance of living together in diversity; and (3) the guidelines of desirable characteristics of students revealed the suitability and possibility were overall at the highest level.
