Abstract

The objectives of this mixed-method research were; 1) to study the performance potentiality of supporting staffs of Surin Rajabhat University and 2) to study guidelines for a development of supporting staffs of Surin Rajabhat University. The samples used in the quantitative study were 192 of supporting staffs working at Surin Rajabhat University. Data were collected through a questionnaire with its reliability of 0.953. The quantitative data were analyzed by percentage, mean and standard deviation. On the other hand, the qualitative data were collected through a focused-group discussion with 9 of senior and middle executives and the qualitative data were analyzed and arranged according to its importance to answer research questions. The results of this study were found that:   


  1. Generally, the performance potentiality of Surin Rajabhat University’s supporting staffs was at a high level. However, the performance potentiality according to the performing role was rated at the highest level follows by the performing potentiality, and the opportunity to develop potentiality and ability, respectively. According to guidelines to develop supporting staffs’ potentiality, the respondents showed that they agree with guidelines to develop supporting staffs’ potentiality at a moderate level. They most agreed with the educational aspect follows by the self-development aspect, and the training aspect, respectively.

  2. According to guidelines for a development of supporting staffs, the respondents showed that, in term of education, the university should provide a grant for supporting staffs to further their education and to increase a skill of English or other languages. For a self-development, a supplementary working manual should be provided for every position and a coaching system should be applied to support a decision making of supporting staffs. Further, supporting staffs should be supported by the university to produce academic works for a promotion into a higher position. In term of training, a technological training course should be provided.
