Political Economy of Political Accumulation : A case study of Thaugsuban Family.

Abstract

 This is a partial article of the dissertation called ‘Political Economy of Political Capital Accumulation: A Case Study of Thaugsuban Family’; intending to study the accumulation of economic, social, cultural, and symbolic capitals which are the vital conditions contributing to the accumulation of political capital in the context of Thaugsuban family. The qualitative research methods were used for data collection including document reviews and In – depth interviews with 3 Thaugsuban family members. The data was analyzed by the Historical Approach and interview construe.
It is found that the political capital accumulation of Thaugsuban family has been contributed by 4 forms of capital accumulation that are the vital conditions for political capital accumulation: 1. Economic capital
accumulation generated by working in agriculture, and own businesses, 2. Social capital accumulation generated by working for public benefits, running projects, and establishing the cooperation, 3. Cultural capital
accumulation generated by education, educational institutes, and sports, and 4. Symbolic capital accumulation generated by being the icon of good government officer, being the aboard graduated subdistrict headman, being the leader fighting against injustice, and creating the symbol of fighting.
