The Model of Buddist Peaceful Community Mediation Development for Village

Abstract

 This research article adopts a qualitative research approach and aims to study the development of community mediation pattern by means of Buddhist peaceful settlement for the village committee. The study used Ban Yang Ngam Village, Village No. 3, Phun Phin District, Surat Thani Province as its case study for analyzing the data of the pattern development,pursuant to the law authorizing the village committee to perform themediation.This case study found that the village committee lacked pattern, procedure and process of mediation. It caused the village committee’sauthority enforcement failed to constitute achievement. These community disputes could not consequently be solved, leading to filing a suit and it was hard to achieve the harmony, afterwards.The author conducted the research by surveying the target area with the village committee’s participative principle in order to develop the legal mediation patterns, starting from appointment and negotiation tomediation and agreement. Meanwhile, the Buddhist peaceful settlement was applied to ensure peaceful calm state of mind and reduction ofstubbornness and argument which could lead to violence. The practiceresult enabled the village committee to obtain knowledge and understanding and recognize the problem in order to resolve the communitydispute, establish peace and promote harmony in the target area.
