Abstract

This article aims to analyze His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's creative genius in visual arts, rhetoric oratory and literary arts corresponding to the Postmodernism’s paradigm. This study emphasizes three subjects : 1) aspect of visual art, especially in Royal paintings from 1959 – 1967; 2) aspect of rhetoric oratory appearing in the two Royal speeches, regarding “Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy” and his status as the head of state;  and 3) aspect of literary arts in the Royal literary work “Mahajanaka”, first published in 1996 for the Golden jubilee of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

His creative genius in visual art shows that His Majesty integrated the multivalence and pastiche, which is the uniqueness of his collection. For the aspect of rhetoric oratories, His Majesty neglects the episteme of development about capitalism but encourage the application of “Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy”. His Majesty refuses to be the “Subject” that is superior to others but respects the ideal of equality and thereby liberty for all. Finally, with regard to the aspect of literary arts, King Bhumibol Adulyadej used interpretation, imitation and transposition from the Jãtaka Tales ; His Majesty reads this Jãtaka Tales as the “writer text”,  enabling it become a piece of contemporary masterpiece suitable for general readers. All these geniuses apparently represent the Postmodernism’s paradigm of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
