RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION AND INNOVATION OF CHINA CHIC STYLE IN THE ILLUSTRATIONS OF LOCAL FOOD CULTURE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the characteristics of local food culture illustrations in China Chic style and to suggest how to create local food culture illustrations. It applies a qualitative research methodology that includes secondary research, qualitative interviews, and the collection of 20 representative illustrations from professional websites. The results of the study showed that the illustrations of local food culture in China Chic style had the following characteristics: 1) Color techniques: The first popular color was complementary colors, and analogous harmony colors and vintage colors were also used; 2) Elements: local features and symbols such as food, architecture, flowers, mountains, animals ,and traditional patterns were often used to illustrate local food culture; 3) The three most popular composition methods were full-frame composition, symmetrical composition and centered composition. In addition, suggestions given to designers for the application and innovation of China Chic style in illustrating local food culture.
