Later, at the beginning of the 20th century, the rubber production center was moved to Southeast Asia. This is because of six key factors: 1) Developments and advancements in post-industrial technology in Europe have caused the emergence of the automotive industry. Therefore, it is vital to use natural rubber to produce wheels for cars; 2) Natural rubber from Brazil is a raw material that must be sourced completely from the Amazon rainforest, making its supply unpredictable; 3) The automobile industry boom in Europe and the United States requires a large and sufficient supply of raw materials to meet the needs of the industrial manufacturing lines; 4) The rubber-growing environments in Brazil and Southeast Asia are located along the equatorial belt, which is appropriate for rubber growth; 5) The cost of producing and harvesting rubber from nature is higher than that of Southeast Asia; 6) In Southeast Asia, rubber tree plantations are typically staffed with inexpensive Chinese workers. This made English traders and businessmen see profitable opportunities; therefore, rubber timber was planted during Straits Settlements in Southeast Asia at the end of the 19th century. The rubber plantation industry grew during the early 20th century. South East Asia has become the world's largest producer of natural rubber raw materials, replacing Brazil as a natural rubber hub. In this study, this article applies the historical approach to study and analyze information from research and Literature Review.
yuttiyoung limlertvatee, Narong Petprasert Copyright (c) 2024 JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES SONGKHLA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husoskru/article/view/269604 Thu, 23 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 PHI TA KHON: FROM FOLK ARTS TO THE CREATIVE ARTS IN DAN SAI DISTRICT'S CULTURAL AREA, LOEI PROVINCE https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husoskru/article/view/270625
This article aimed to study the transformation of Phi Ta Khon from folk art to creative art in Dan Sai District’s cultural area, Loei Province. The study revealed that Phi Ta Knon, formerly known as Phi Tam Khon (ghost following people), was a part of Bun Luang, a Buddhist merit-making holiday. The Phi Ta Khon ascribed a story to when Phra Vessantara decided to go back to the town. However, the forest spirits who used to serve him were sad and nostalgic. Forest spirits, therefore, disguised themselves with the villagers to send Phra Vessantara along with the parades and processions through the town. They had found something that could be used to conceal one's face so as not to frighten those who saw it. Originally, Phi Ta Khon's ghostly mask and costume were made with accessible materials that were easy to find in the community. Nowadays, Phi Ta Khon is changed into a new style that creates a sense of grandeur and splendor by using modern materials with modern patterns, colors, and techniques for blending. The Phi Ta Khon-making concept is clearly defined, so the image of Phi Ta Khon becomes more fantasy. The factors that caused the change in Phi Ta Khon were more creative artistic skills in the community, art and cultural tourism management trends, advanced design technology, tourists’ behavior toward arts and culture recognition, drawing and coloring contests, and the continuously driving tourism activities by the government sector.
‪Thairoj Phoungmanee‬, Nasriry Sriryparimar Copyright (c) 2024 JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES SONGKHLA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husoskru/article/view/270625 Thu, 23 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE MANAGEMENT OF COMMUNITIES, LANDSCAPES, JOBS AND CAREERS WITH PARTICIPATION IN THE KHAO-PA-NA-LE AREA, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husoskru/article/view/270110
This participatory action research aims to manage communities, study contexts, needs, landscapes, jobs and occupations in a participatory way in the Khao-Pa-Na-Le area, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province to be used as information to develop learning activities outside the classroom for enhancing learners’ competency to be creative and professional innovators who live an environmentally friendly lifestyle and initiators of self-learning.
