NEW VERSION OF RAMWONG WIAN KROK

Abstract

            Ramwong Wian Krok is one of the performance types that entertains people, especially in the southern region of Thailand. The main characteristics are as follows: 1) It is originally adapted from Ram Ton (Thai Folk Dance) in the central region of Thailand, but it has been changing over time. 2) Ramwong Wian Krok is focus on music rather than the dance. Originally, Ram Ton uses only one musical instrument which is Ton as a component of the dance. When using various kinds of musical instruments like String Band, the instruments in this band include electric quitars, electric bass, electric keyboard, and drum Set. In some bands they add some percussion and woodwind or brass as well. 3) The songs have been played in the original form, but they might have been added other types of songs to target different groups of audiences. 4) Ramwong Wian Krok has three stages including: stage one for slow songs, stage two for Ramwong, Cha-Cha-Cha and contemporary songs, this is the longest stage, and stage three is to bid farewell to the audience.
