SPIRITS IN TRA SAM DUANG LAW

Abstract
This article aims to study the belief in spirits of Thai people in Ayutthaya period through the study of Tra Sam Duang law. It is found that the belief of Thai people in Ayutthaya period affects the living, the closeness to nature and agricultural way of earning a living. Therefore, there were rituals corresponding to the belief such as the homage to the sacred called “spirit” which had been believed that were able to bring good or bad things in life. These beliefs affected the way of life of Thai people in Ayutthaya period as portrayed in the punishment of the wrong doer in relation to “spirits” in Tra Sam Duang law.
