Abstract

This academic article aims to examine and analyze the similarities and differences between work engagement and organizational commitment, which are two key concepts reflecting employees’ work behaviors and attitudes toward their roles and the organization as a whole. Through a systematic review and analysis of relevant literature, the study reveals that although both concepts are associated with employees’ dedication and attachment, they differ significantly in focus and components. Work engagement emphasizes emotional involvement in work, enthusiasm, and energy in performing tasks, whereas organizational commitment reflects loyalty, intention to remain with the organization in the long term, and a strong acceptance of organizational values. This article presents a comparative discussion of the two concepts in terms of definitions, dimensions, and implications, and offers recommendations for applying both variables in research to sustainably enhance employee engagement and organizational commitment.
