Abstract

Pet-friendly tourism is a growing trend in the global travel industry, driven by changes in human lifestyles where pets are increasingly considered family members. This paper aims to explore the concepts, relationships, and bonds between humans and pets that influence travel behavior and tourism experiences, while analyzing the factors that support and limit this type of tourism. The study uses a literature review methodology, drawing on international sources to build a deeper understanding of the subject matter. The findings suggest that the bond between humans and pets significantly influences travel decisions, such as accommodation choices, activity selection, and managing travel constraints. Furthermore, the development of facilities and services that cater to pet-owning travelers, such as pet-friendly accommodations, restaurants, and attractions, plays a crucial role in enhancing satisfaction and promoting business opportunities. However, traveling with pets also faces limitations, such as hygiene regulations, additional costs, and environmental impacts. This paper proposes solutions to address these limitations, such as creating service standards, educating travelers, and promoting collaboration between public and private sectors to develop sustainable pet-friendly tourism.
