The Structures Food Names in Encyclopedia of Thai Culture of Northeastern

Abstract
This research aims to analyze food names structures in encyclopedia of Thai culture of northeastern. Data were collected from encyclopedia of northeastern book 1-15 and there were 81 food names. After that, the food names were analyzed in terms of numbers of words, how to create words and types of words. The study indicated that the structures of food names appeared in 1-6 words. There were simple way and complex way to form words by combining nouns, verbs and adjectives to form food names. The food names structures can be divided in to 6 groups : 1) food names structure with 1 word have 1 form 2) food names structures with 2 words have 3 forms 3) food names structures with 3 words have 6 forms 4) food names structures with 4 words have 6 forms 5) food names structures with 5 words have 2 forms and 6) food names structures with 6 words have 2 forms. Considering the numbers of food names structures in the 6 groups it indicated that food names structures with 2 words were the largest followed by food names structures with 3 words, food names structures with 4 words, food name structures with 1 word and food names structures with 5-6 words.
