Guidelines for managing occupational groups into community enterprises with participation in all sectors to raise the level of the grassroots economy in Khun Thale Subdistrict. Mueang Surat Thani District Surat Thani Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to examine the management models of occupational groups, identify the problems and obstacles faced by these groups, and propose guidelines for the participatory management of occupational groups across all sectors to enhance the local economy in Khun Thale Subdistrict, Mueang Surat Thani District, Surat Thani Province. A mixed-methods research approach was employed. The quantitative research utilized a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 400 individuals. Statistical analysis included percentages, means, and standard deviations. The qualitative research involved in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 10 key informants. The findings revealed that: 1) regarding the management models of occupational groups, most residents aspire to elevate occupational groups to community enterprises through participatory engagement across all sectors. The key aspects identified were as follows: participation in benefits ranked the highest (mean = 4.03), followed by participation in evaluation (mean = 3.98), participation in operations (mean = 3.97), and participation in planning (mean = 3.77), respectively. 2) In terms of problems and obstacles, it was found that members lacked motivation to perform work and collaborate in activities, and there was discontinuity in operations due to insufficient raw materials for product processing. Furthermore, many occupational groups and community enterprises failed to renew their registration. 3) Regarding guidelines for occupational group management, it is essential to establish a sense of shared ownership, determine standards and roles for operating activities, and consider local raw materials that align with the characteristics of each occupational group to ensure long-term stability and sustainability.
