The STAD Learning Process is Combined with 5W1H Technique to Enhance Analytical Reading Abilities for Grade 5 Students in The Thai Language Subject.

Abstract

           The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities for Grade 5 students in the Thai language subject with efficiency according to the criteria of 75/75, 2) to study the effectiveness index of the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique for Grade 5 students 3) to compare the analytical reading abilities after the implementation of STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique for Grade 5 students and the 70% criteria and 4) to study the satisfaction of Grade 5 students on the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique. The sample group in this research was twenty-four Grade 5 Student at Nutthanaree Kindergardent School from a classroom in Semester 2 of academic year 2023. The research tools included: 1) 6 learning management plans using the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities for 12 hours in duration, 2) a test of analytical reading abilities using the STAD learning process combined with the 5W1H technique, with 4 multiple choice options, 30 questions and 3) a 5-level rating scale student satisfaction questionnaire on the learning activities using STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities totaling 20 items. The data analysis statistics included percentage(%), mean(µ) and standard deviation(ơ). The statistics for hypothesis testing was t-test (Dependent samples). The research results found that 1) Learning management plan using the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities in Thai language for Grade 5 students has an efficiency equal to 75.38/82.64, which is in accordance with the specified criteria. 2) The effectiveness index of the learning management plan using the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities for Grade 5 students was equal to 0.5140 or 51.40 percent. 3) The analytical reading abilities after the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique comparing with the criteria of 70 percent found that the average score was 8.264 or 82.64 percentage, which was statistically significantly higher than the specified criteria of 70 percent at the .05 level. and 4) Grade 5 students had satisfaction on the STAD learning process combined with 5W1H technique to enhance analytical reading abilities at a high level (µ = 4.36, ơ = 0.44)
