FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT WORKER : A CASE STUDY OF BANGKOK METROPOLITAN ADMINISTRATION

Abstract
The objective of this research was 1) to find the Specific Functional Competencies and behavioral indicators of social developer position in Bangkok, 2) to compare the expected level and reality level, core competencies, functional competencies, and specific functional competencies of social developer position in Bangkok. By in-dept interview and group interview, the director of Social Development Department, the deputy director of Social Development Department, and excellent performance social developer. Answered questionnaires sample group are social developer in Bangkok among 118 persons. This research used Paired - Sample T-Test statistic for analysis.
The results showed 1) Specific functional competencies of social developer in Bangkok as follow, information technology knowledge, discipline and operation law knowledge, principle of community development or community management knowledge, team work, communication, immediately problem solving, the leadership, emotions control, and situation adaptation. 2) At present, core competencies, functional competencies, and specific functional competencies, have differenced average to the expected level of social developer in Bangkok, core competencies, work position competencies, and field of work competencies with statistical significance at level 0.05
