Study of the current conditions and problems of learning management to enhance global citizenship among vocational certificate students

Abstract

This research aimed to study the current status and problems of learning management to enhance global citizenship competence of vocational certificate students (Vocational Certificate, V.C.) by using mixed methods research. The research instruments were questionnaires and interview questions. The population was vocational certificate students (Vocational Certificate, V.C.) in 3 colleges under the Vocational Education Commission of Phichit Province. The sample group was 328 people, randomly selected using the Krejcie & Morgan formula. There were 2 types of research instruments: 1) questionnaires and 2) interview questions. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The results of the research found that the current status was at a moderate level (mean (x) = 3.22 and standard deviation (S.D.) = 0.92).The problems identified in educational management include: students' lack of interest and enthusiasm in learning about global citizenship; the diversity among students in terms of knowledge, skills, and interests, which makes it difficult to manage learning and assess performance; students focusing more on grades rather than learning and developing essential skills; and a lack of connection between learning and real-life application, where students do not perceive the importance of learning about global citizenship for daily life.
