Development of Leave System with Digital Content for Faculty of Engineering Personnel, Naresuan University

Abstract

            This study is a Research and Development (R&D) project with two main objectives: (1) to develop a digital leave management system and (2) to evaluate the effectiveness and user satisfaction of the developed system. The system was designed following the system analysis and design principles, consisting of input, process, and output components. It was developed to facilitate and support human resource management within the Faculty of Engineering at Naresuan University, aiming to improve efficiency, enhance operational speed, and reduce paper usage. Traditionally, the leave requests were processed through paper-based forms and manual approval procedures, which often caused delays in data verification. The researcher therefore conducted a survey on the needs of the Faculty of Engineering personnel and found that 91.57 percent expressed the need to use the digital content-based leave management system. Consequently,
the system will be developed and integrated with the Faculty of Engineering’s ENMIS database using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model and integrated with the Engineering Management Information System (ENMIS) database. The system enables personnel to submit leave requests online, while supervisors can approve requests, with approval results automatically notified via LINE Notify and the leave form instantly delivered to the personnel. Additionally, personnel can cancel requests, check leave status, and access leave information anytime and anywhere through the internet. The system’s effectiveness was evaluated by three experts—two in digital content and one in human resource management—using Black-Box Testing. Furthermore, user satisfaction was assessed with a purposive sample of 84 personnel, comprising both academic and support staff. Data collection tools included system performance evaluation forms, and the data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

            Research Results:

1. The outcome of the study was a digital leave management system, developed as a Web-based Application, equipped with a notification mechanism via LINE Notify.


2. The results showed that the system efficiency was rated at the highest level (x̄ = 4.85, S.D. = 0.28), and
   user satisfaction with the system was also rated at the highest level (x̄ = 4.71, S.D. = 0.45)
