Factors that Effect to Quality of Work Life of Persons with Physical Disabilities who work in Private Organization

Abstract

    This article is a part of the research title “Factors that Effect to Quality of Work Life of Persons with Physical Disabilities who work for Private Organizations” aimed to study the factors related to quality of work life of persons with physical disabilities who work for private organizations. This is a qualitative research that data were collected from persons with physical disabilities who work for private organizations. An in-depth interviews and a question guideline were used with a snowball technique, the sample consisted of 12 participants in the Central of Thailand who have mobility impairments. According to the findings, there were 5 main factors affecting persons with physical disabilities: 1) Factors related to organization which consisted of minor factors were understanding of disabilities and the limitations of disabilities, assistive technology for persons with disabilities, the ability to do things that are capable, interested and beloved, a job opportunity, work safety, equal rights as other people, career path, work flexibility without pressure, development of persons with disabilities, participation in organization activities, work environment and Human Resource Management. 2) Factors related to people who associated with persons with disabilities consisted of minor factors were colleagues, supervisors, family support and business owner. 3) Factors related to compensation and benefits consisted of minor factors were compensation, welfare of accommodation, welfare of health insurance, life insurance and provident fund and other benefits. 4) Factors related to persons with disabilities themselves consisted of minor factors were positive attitude of persons with disabilities, adaptation of persons with disabilities, development of persons with disabilities, strength and mindset and independent living. 5) Factors related to government consisted of minor factors were convenience when traveling to work, Social Security, Industrial Rehabilitation Centre and government policy.
