Abstract

This research aimed to study factors related to diabetic screening behavior among the population aged 35 years and over. The sample group consisted of 300 people aged 35 years and over who had not previously been diagnosed with diabetes, from three communities within the responsible area. Simple random sampling was used by drawing lots from the list of populations eligible for diabetic screening in each community, 100 people per community. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics using Chi-square, with a significance level set at 0.05.


The research findings revealed that: Personal factors related to the decision to undergo diabetic screening among the sample group were religion, occupation, and history of diabetes, with statistical significance at p < 0.05. The level of knowledge was significantly related to the decision to undergo diabetic screening among the sample group at p < 0.05. Furthermore, the level of health beliefs, including perceived severity of the disease, perceived risk, perceived benefits, and perceived barriers, were significantly related to the decision to undergo diabetic screening among the sample group at p < 0.05.
