Abstract
เรากำลังอยู่ในยุคของการเปลี่ยนผ่านกระบวนทัศน์การรักษาโรคเบาหวาน จากการรักษาตามอาการสู่เป้าหมายการทำให้โรคสงบ (DM Remission) ในอดีต โรคเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 (T2DM) มักถูกนิยามว่าเป็นโรคเรื้อรังที่ดำเนินไปอย่างต่อเนื่องและไม่สามารถรักษาให้หายขาดได้ อย่างไรก็ตาม ข้อมูลทางวิชาการล่าสุดชี้ให้เห็นว่าภายในปี 2045 จะมีผู้ได้รับผลกระทบจากโรคนี้สูงถึง 629 ล้านคนทั่วโลก ซึ่งสร้างภาระทางเศรษฐกิจและสาธารณสุขอย่างมหาศาล
