INFLUENCES OF OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND LOGISTICS ACTIVITIES ON LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE OF LAST MILE LOGISTICS BUSINESS IN THE NEW NORMAL ERA

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business; and 2) to analyze the general characteristics of Last Mile Logistics business, operational efficiency factors, and logistics activity factors that affect the logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business in the New Normal era. The sample group used in this study comprised 394 Last Mile Logistics service operators that were selected using a simple random sampling method. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire with an IOC value of 0.986. The statistics used to analyze data were descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The study results revealed that: 1) logistics management performance of the Last Mile Logistics business operators in the New Normal era was at the highest level, whereas among the three aspects of logistics management performance, cost had the highest rating followed by time and reliability, respectively; and 2) every logistics activity had an effect on logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business at a statistically significant level of 0.05; where the top three most influential activities were logistics communications, warehousing and storage, and parts and service support.


            The sample group used in this study comprised 394 Last Mile Logistics service operators that were selected using a simple random sampling method. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze data comprised descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and inferential statistics: one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis at a statistically significant level of .05.


          The study results revealed that the overall logistics management performance of the Last Mile Logistics business samples was at a high level. The general characteristics of Last Mile Logistics business in terms of differences in registered capital and period of operation affected the differences in logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business. The components of operational efficiency factor, namely engagement, assets, responsiveness, and operating costs affected the logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business. Moreover, it was found that every logistics activity had an effect on Logistics management performance of Last Mile Logistics business at a statistically significant level of .05; where the top three most influential activities were demand forecasting, transportation, and inventory management.
