08 Perceived Workload and Job Burnout Among Flight Attendants : The Moderating Effects of Organizational Communication and Job Stress

The purpose of this research is to study about the relationship between perceived
workload and job burnout with organizational communication and job stress as the moderating
effects. The sample in this study was from 200 airline flight attendants. The instruments
which were collected for this research are personal factors questionnaires, perceived workload
questionnaires (r= 0.82), job burnout questionnaires (r= 0.80) ,organizational communication
questionnaires (r= 0.94) and job stress questionnaires (r=0.92). Data were analyzed by using
Pearson product-moment correlation and Hierachical multiple regression analysis.
The finding was summarized as follows, perceived workload is negatively correlated to
job burnout at .01 significance level (r=-.274, p < .01) and organizational communication is not
a moderator on the relationship between perceived workload and job burnout while job stress
is a moderator on the relationship between perceived workload and job burnout. (R2 = 0.425).
