Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study 1) Evaluate the student management practices of school administrators to foster desirable characteristics of secondary schools affiliated with the Phetchaburi Provincial Education Office. 2) Propose guidelines for the development of student management practices by school administrators to cultivate desirable characteristics of secondary schools affiliated with the Phetchaburi Provincial Education Office.  The sample used in this research consists of 280 school administrators and teachers affiliated with the Phetchaburi Provincial Education Office. The research instrument utilized was a questionnaire, and statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the research found that: 1) The overall assessment of student management practices by school administrators to foster desirable characteristics in secondary schools affiliated with the Phetchaburi Provincial Education Office showed a high level of implementation. When considering specific aspects, the highest average score was observed in student management activities, followed by student management planning. The aspect with the lowest average score was promoting discipline, morality, and ethics among students. 2) The proposed guidelines for assessing student management practices by school administrators to foster desirable characteristics in secondary schools affiliated with the Phetchaburi Provincial Education Office include the following: (1) Holding planning meetings to involve parents and students representatives in alignment with school policies and developing student manuals. (2) Appointing teachers responsible for student management tasks in a clear class-level committee format to align with school policies. (3) Promoting meetings among administrative staff to plan activities for promoting student behavior and discipline. (4) Encouraging teachers to analyze data to group and identify students clearly, assisting all students. (5) Promoting the development of school curricula by incorporating democratic promotion in all learning areas to enhance students' knowledge of democracy. (6) Encouraging teachers to analyze the results of student management assessments, summarize the various activities of the student management department undertaken each academic year according to the planned objectives.
