Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research article were: 1) to study the current states of leadership characteristics of school administrators; 2) to explore the methods for developing leadership characteristics based on the Tisikkhā principle (The Threefold Training) among school administrators; and 3) to propose guidelines for developing school administrators' leadership characteristics based on the Tisikkhā principle. This study employed a mixed-methods research design. For the quantitative research, data were collected via questionnaires from a sample of 152 school administrators and teachers within the Pathum Benja School Cluster. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Priority Needs Index (PNI). For the qualitative research, in-depth interviews were conducted with 7 key informants, and the data were analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings were as follows: 1) The current states of the leadership characteristics of school administrators were overall at a high level, while the desirable state was overall at the highest level. When ranked by the priority needs index, the aspects of leadership characteristics were ordered as follows: 1st - communication and motivation, 2nd - collaboration with others, 3rd - vision, 4th - creativity and initiative, and 5th - academic leadership. 2) The methods for developing leadership characteristics based on the Tisikkhā principle comprise five main domains: (1) communication and motivation, (2) collaboration with others, (3) vision, (4) creativity and initiative, and (5) academic leadership. These methods integrated the Tisikkhā principle into practical operations by applying Sīla (Morality) to establish discipline and good governance, Samādhi (Concentration) to foster emotional and mental stability, and Paññā (Wisdom) to ensure analytical and prudent decision-making. 3) The proposed guidelines for developing leadership characteristics of school administrators based on the Tisikkhā principle emphasized internal development coupled with systematic and sustainable management. This approach involved the integration of Sīla, Samādhi, and Paññā to cultivate moral integrity, psychological stability, and the application of wisdom in decision-making.
