GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS OF TEACHERS ACCORDING TO THE FOUR PRINCIPLES OF BHAVANA IN PATHUMBENCHA SUB-CAMPUS GROUP, PATHUM THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research article aimed to 1) study the development conditions of desirable characteristics of teachers in Pathumbencha sub-campus group, 2) study the development method of desirable characteristics of teachers according to the four principles of Bh van , and 3) propose a guideline for the development of desirable characteristics of teachers according to the four principles of Bh van  in Pathumbencha sub-campus group, Pathum Thani Province. This research was a mixed-method research. The quantitative research used a questionnaire from the sample group, consisting of 186 school administrators and teachers in Pathumbencha sub-campus group. The data were analyzed using basic statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative research was conducted by interviewing 7 administrators and teachers and analyzing the data using content analysis.

The results of this research found that: 1) The development condition of desirable characteristics of teachers in Pathumbencha sub-campus group according to the four principles of Bh van , overall and in each aspect, was at a high level, namely teachers loved and believed in the teaching profession, teachers developed themselves professionally, teachers must not act as an enemy of progress, teachers must behave as a good example for their students, teachers must not seek benefits through bribery, teachers must train, teach, and enhance knowledge, teachers must love and have compassion for students, teachers must help and support teachers and the community in a constructive way, and the lowest level was, teachers must behave as leaders, respectively. 2) The methods for developing desirable characteristics of teachers, teachers should behave as leaders of teachers with morality and ethics, creating confidence and respect for the teaching profession in society, being good leaders and examples in terms of ethics and morality and the community in a constructive way, leading students to community learning resources, inquiring about students' happiness and sorrow regularly, understanding students' needs, choosing various methods of teaching that should be appropriate for students' conditions, creating a good and effective learning atmosphere, using appropriate methods for each student, which would make teaching and learning diverse, responding to students' needs in each learning style, and enable students to learn fully and develop well in all aspects, acting in accordance with ethics and morality truly would create trust, fairness, and transparency. Teachers were ready to create learning and maintain teachers' behavior and expressions as they should be appropriate and consistent with society's expectations, respect the feelings of others, inspire students, fellow teachers, show love for the profession, and disseminate work that must come from tangible actions, self-development, and work creation. Teachers should strive to continuously develop their own skills and abilities, and respect and accept the work of their fellow professionals. 3) The development of desirable characteristics of teachers in the Pathumbencha Sub-Campus Group, Pathum Thani Province, consisted of consideration of the context and cultural diversity in the area, the number of teachers per classroom, or access to educational resources, self-development in technology and innovation, promoting training and professional development, organizing workshops to develop specialized skills, developing ethics and morality, organizing activities to instill the spirit of being a teacher, using local resources and technology in cooperation with local organizations, continuous measurement and evaluation with the clear criteria for measuring desirable teacher characteristics and their use in both individual and group evaluations, and using evaluation results to develop a complete individual training plan.
