COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACCORDING TO SANGAHAVATTHUDHAMMA PRINCIPLE OF LIN CHANG TEMPLE, NONG YA PLONG DISTRICT, PHETCHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the principles of community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma (bases of social solidarity), 2) study the comparison of community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma classified by personal factors, and 3) study the problems, obstacles, and suggestions for community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma of Wat Lin Chang. This research was conducted using a mixed-methods method. The quantitative research used a questionnaire for the entire population of 276 people in the research. The data were analyzed using research statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing using t-test, F-test, and one-way analysis of variance. The qualitative research was conducted by interviewing 9 key informants. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The results of the research found that 1) The overall opinions on the principles of community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma of Wat Lin Chang, Nong Ya Plong District, Phetchaburi Province were at a high level. When considering each aspect, the opinions were at a high level, which was the aspect of unity, consistent behavior. The opinions on each aspect were at a high level, which was the aspect of giving, sacrifice, kind speech, speaking with sweet and sincere words, and self-behavior, public welfare, respectively. 2) The results of the comparison of community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma of Wat Lin Chang classified by personal factors found that personal factors, namely the different ages had different in overall on community development according to the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma of Wat Lin Chang, so the hypothesis was accepted. As for the different of gender, education, occupation, and income had no different in overall on the people's opinions on the community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma of Wat Lin Chang, therefore, the hypothesis was rejected. And 3) Problems, obstacles, and suggestions in community development based on the principles of Saṅgahavatthu-dhamma (1) Problems, obstacles, were: The number of people needing help had increased, causing help to be insufficient for everyone. There was sometimes the use of impolite words and a lack of self-discipline. (2) Suggestions were: Surveying the information of people needing help to be comprehensive, refraining from using impolite words, and maintaining a monk's appearance and appropriate behavior in every location.
