THE FACTORS FOR RETENTION OF THE FOREIGN TEACHERS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF BANGKOK METROPOLITAN ADMINISTRATION SCHOOLS

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) To study the factors for retention of foreign teachers under the jurisdiction of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools and 2) To study the confirming results of the factors for retention of foreign teachers under the jurisdiction of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools. This research is descriptive research. The population of this research was 437 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools. The sampling group was 205 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools. The information providers for this research were either a school administrator or a head of foreign language learning program English Subject and 1 foreign teacher teaching English from Skills for Life Project. There were 2 information providers in each school for a total of 410 participants. The tools used in this research were semi-structured interviews from the experts, opinionnaires and expert opinionnaires to confirm the factors for retentions of foreign teachers under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools. Tools used for data collection were the five levels estimation standard. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, exploratory factor analysis and content analysis. Receiving the completed opinionnaires back for 352 pieces converting to the percentage of 85.85. The findings of the factors for retention of foreign teachers under the jurisdiction of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools were consisted of four main factors as follows: 1) The ways to Increase the Satisfactions for Organizational Engagement. The first main factor was divided into four sub factors as follows: 1.1) The Leadership Role in Performance Management. 1.2) Giving awards in various forms. 1.3) Establishing good relationship with safety and warm atmosphere. 1.4) The HR support system. 2) The cultivation for inspirations and faiths. 3) Arranging for teaching English in the same unique standardized format 4) Provision of gaining benefits and welfares for professions, incomes and health.
