THE ANALYTICAL STUDY ON THE TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA APPEARED IN THE CONTENTS OF THE SOUTHERN SHADOW PLAY

Abstract

The  objectives  of  this  dissertation  were  as  follows ;  1) to  study  the  history  on  shadow  play  in  the  southern ; 2) to  study  contents  of  shadow  play  in  the  southern ; 3) to analytically study the  teachings of the Buddha  appeared  in  the  contents  of  the   shadow  play.  By  qualitative  research  to  find  out  data  in  terms  of  documents  and  interview  according  to  the  scope  of  research  which  has  given  the  data  from  study  will  be  utilized  in  academics  field  and  group  artists  shadow  play.

The  findings  were  as  follows ;

1) The shadow play in  the  southern pattern  came  from  India  by  incoming  about  17^th  Buddhist  century.  In  age  of  empire  Srivichai  by  direct  come  in  from  the weat  area of Phuket  province,  Phang  Nga  province, and  Krabi  province  as  for  indirect  come  into  Chava,  Malayoo,  and  seashore  on  the  east  side of Thailand. It is believed that Shadow play should happen in Bankhuanmapraw,  Phatthalung  province  afterwards  it  spread  to  neightboring  provinces  susch  as  Nakhorn  Si  Thammarat  province,  Songkhla  province  and  Trang  province  etc.  The  opinion  that  in  south  India  the  Thaminnadoo  state  has  in  the out  door  museum  named  Thaksinjittra  here  are  exhibited  the  shadow  play  ancient  by  name  “Tolungu”  at  present  this  kind  of  performance no  any  performance  in  Thaminnadoo  state. But  such  shows  at  Kerala  state  by performing  arts  this  type  of  call  “Tolpavakoothu”  the  film  made  of  deer  skin. In  the  southern of Thailand the word “Nang Talung” Assume that not  the name  emerging,  but  its  old  name  which  received  from  India  directly be “Tolungu” itself

2) The study on contents  of shadow play in the  southern. A  speculative  fiction  is  displayed  in  the  fiction  by  shadow  artist  each  faculty  or  the  author.  The characters in the  story usually consists of  the Governor or the King, the  Queen,  the Prince, the Princess  each of  the  city  and  other  place  to  include  throughout  the  whole, etc. The  shadow  play of  feature  is  there  a  clown  such  as Ai Theng, Ai Nunui, Ai Kwanmuang etc. Therefore the  audience track  performance  contents  of  shadow  plaly  without  feeling  tired.

3) The study on teaching  of  the Buddha  appeared  in  the  contents  of  shadow play found  that  the appeared  Dhamma  principles in Buddhism can  be  divided as follows ; the Dhamma for life and  family,the Dhamma for social relations, Dhamma for good living in economics, Dhamma for liberation(Lokuttaradhamma) which are found the Dhamma for life and  family, and Dhamma  for social relation was the highest and followed up the Dhamma for liberation(Lokuttaradhamma) and the Dhamma  for good  living  in  economics  was  the  lowest.
