Abstract

This study aimed to (1) evaluate the overall conditions of Lygodium woven basket production, (2) analyze the processes and outcomes of value-added development, and (3) provide solutions to enhance product value for sustainable community income. The study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) with 30 participants. Data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and workshop activities, and evaluated using content analysis.  The investigations demonstrated that Lygodium woven baskets possess benefits in leveraging local natural resources, reflecting indigenous knowledge, durability, and low production costs. However, shortcomings were recognized in product design diversity, marketing expertise, branding, and production capability. The value-added development process consists of ten critical steps: (1) problem and potential analysis, (2) objective formulation, (3) market and target analysis, (4) product development planning, (5) training design, (6) knowledge transfer, (7) product development execution, (8) branding and narrative construction, (9) packaging and label design, and (10) distribution channel development. As a result, the things were increasingly diverse and contemporary, leading to augmented product value, higher selling prices, and expanded abilities and participation among group members.  The study outlined five key recommendations for sustainable value-added development: (1) product development, (2) capacity enhancement, (3) marketing and networking, (4) group administration, and (5) environmental sustainability. These ideas can be employed to strengthen community-based products, enhance revenue, and foster sustainable development.
