“Study of Thai language” and “Thai Studies” in China

Abstract
This article attempts to analyse the establishment of Thai language teaching institutions (the study of Thai language) in China from 1946 to 2019, as well as the establishment of institutes and organizations supporting the study of Thailand (Thai Studies), which developed in line with the study of Thai language in China. Therefore, the teaching and learning of Thai language in China got intense. The development of Thai language education in China demonstrates strengths which can be adopted as a guideline for the development of foreign languages teaching in Thailand; and the lessons learned in the analysis could be incorporated into reality by seeking cooperation with educational institutes in China for better effects of both Thai language teaching and Thai Studies.
