Abstract

This research aims to analyze television content regarding media creation for enhancing the quality of life among the Thai elderly, and to examine the roles and functions of media in fostering such creative content. This study employs a qualitative research design, utilizing content analysis of both online and offline media platforms. The sample is categorized into two types: offline media, represented by Thai PBS and Workpoint TV; and online media, specifically the 'Manoon Tang Wai' (Humans of Ageing) channel broadcast via Facebook Fanpage.
The research findings reveal that content aimed at enhancing the elderly's quality of life is present in both offline and online media, with a notable prominence in online platforms, particularly 'Manoon Tang Wai.' This program presents narratives that bridge generational gaps through diverse life perspectives, utilizing an in-depth yet accessible documentary storytelling approach. Regarding the roles of media, online platforms play a significant part in providing diverse content that reaches the elderly digital audience. Conversely, offline television programs remain critically essential for the elderly demographic, maintaining a higher level of influence and accessibility compared to online media.
