The The Influence of Entrepreneurial Capability and Business Survival on Firm Sustainability: Evidence from Commercial Agricultural Business in Northern Thailand

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the influence of entrepreneurial capability on business survival and the firm sustainability of commercial agricultural businesses. A theoretical model of entrepreneurial capability through quantitative research. The population consisted of 1,946 entrepreneurs in commercial and agricultural businesses in the northern region. The questionnaire was used to collect data through a postal survey with 585 responses, which was a 30.06% response rate. The statistic used in data analysis was ordinary least squares regression analysis. The results reveal that 1) entrepreneurial capability consisting of opportunity sensing capability, relational coordination capability, idea generation capability, organizing capability, risk analysis capability have a positive effect on business survival and firm sustainability, and 2) business survival has a positive influence on firm sustainability. The theoretical research contribution is the integration of an entrepreneurial perspective that explains the characteristics and development of entrepreneurial capabilities. The practical research contribution is designing dynamic business models and realizing entrepreneurial viability in specific business contexts.
