Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to develop and examine for the efficiency of the self-study package entitled computational thinking in accordance with SEASES model to enhance the problem-solving skills of grade 8 students to be effective according to the 80/80 standard, 2) to study the result of using this self-study package, and 3) to study the students’ satisfaction towards the self-study package. The research sample consisted of 40 students who were studying in grade 8 group 4 (M. 2/4) at Chiang Rai Municipality School 5 Denha, Chiang Rai Province during the 1st Semester of 2021 using cluster random sampling method. The research instruments included the learning management plans with the highest level of the propriety  (=4.93), the self-study package with the highest level of the propriety (=4.96), the achievement test with the average of reliability at 0.92, the problem-solving skills measured form with the average of reliability at 0.95, and the satisfaction questionnaires with the average of reliability at 0.92. The data was analyzed using mean, standard deviation (S.D.), percentage and t-test (t-test for one sample). The results showed that the efficiency value of E1/E2 of the self-study package was at 84.21/85.06 which was higher than the criteria of 80/80. The score of the posttest, and the problem-solving skills test were significantly higher than the criteria of 70% at the .01 level, which the overall achievement average scores was at 82.81 percent, and the problem solving skills had an overall average score at 85.06. The overall students’ satisfaction toward the self-study package was at the highest level (=4.51, S.D.=0.53), which resulted to get the efficient self-study package to use in learning management to develop students' problem-solving skills to in order to fulfill with 21st century competency.
