A Linguistic Strategies Analysis of the Messages about Tax on Twitter

Abstract
The objective of this research was to analyze the linguistic strategies that appear in the messages about tax of Thai people on Twitter. The sample consisted of 1,447 tweets of messages about tax during 2019 to 2020. The linguistic strategies were applied in the data analysis. The results showed that there were two types of linguistic strategies: namely, semantic strategies, such as, lexical choice, quoting verbs, honorifics, anonymization, and the us and them division; pragmatic strategies, such as, presupposition, metaphor, modality, hedging, negation, speech act, verbal irony, intertextuality, rhetorical question. Moreover, the results of the research reflected that there were three ideas about tax: namely, tax and civil servant or state official, tax and citizen, and tax and government. In addition, the government or relevant organizations can apply the findings of this research to determine the most efficient tax policy.
