The Development of Chinese Communicative Listening and Speaking Core Competencies Using Activity-Based Learning and Metaverse of Secondary 2 Students

Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop core competencies for communication in Chinese listening and speaking using activity-based learning management model and Metaverse of Secondary 2 students to have average score not less than 70 percent and to have students pass the criteria of 70 percent or more. The target group used in this research consisted of 22 students from secondary 2 students using purposive sampling. The design of this research was the action research. The research tools were lesson plans of Chinese course using activity-based learning management model with Metaverse, the observation forms for the teacher's learning management behavior, the observation forms for the students’ learning behavior, the learning management record forms, the students’ interviewing form, the end cycle test, the core competencies for communication in Chinese listening test, and the core competencies for communication in Chinese speaking test. The quantitative data was analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and percentage, and the qualitative data was analyzed using the content analysis. The results were found that 1) the average score of students’ core competencies for communication in Chinese listening was at 22.5 which was 75 percent of the total score, and there were 19 students passed the criteria which equaled 86.36 percent of the total number of the students which was higher than the defined criteria, 2) the average score of students’ core competencies for communication in Chinese speaking was at 23.59 which was 78.63 percent of the total score, and there were 19 students passed the criteria which equaled 86.36 percent of the total number of the students which was higher than defined criteria.
